A Complex Ecosystem
Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is defined by NASA as “an air transportation system that moves people and cargo between places previously not served or underserved by aviation – local, regional, intraregional, urban – using revolutionary new aircraft that are only just now becoming possible.”
As an entire new tool in the transportation portfolio of a city or region, AAM is a complex ecosystem made of many parts - i.e. vehicles, infrastructure, operators, MROs - that have to be concurrently developed and deployed to lead to the industry's success.
Introducing the Indexes
Our goal at SMG Consulting is to bring a deeper level of understanding to the AAM industry, breaking down this complex ecosystem to simpler and easily comparable smaller pieces. We have developed two indexes that allow the user to garner a deeper understanding of two parts of the ecosystem:
- The AAM Reality Index, tracking the likelihood of an OEM certifying their aircraft, entering service and producing it in thousand of units per year
- The AAM Infrastructure Readiness Index, tracking the readiness of the infrastructure that will house the vehicles' operations
Tools for the AAM industry
